10 designers & 1 warrior = DTLA Manufacturing Tour, Designers Take Over!

10 designers met at the California Market Center in the spring for a manufacturing tour. What started off as a meet and greet tipped mid-day, at a laundry Wiser Wash, when designers, ranging from looks of vintage to avant- garde to denim, leisure and travel, even Diana Ross’s personal designer, started to magically collaborate.

As I've said before, it's thrilling to talk to these retailers, manufacturers, and designers about their vision, and being at the intersection of taking the idea to reality, bringing 'amazing-ness' to the world. Keep elevating!

Sharing some takeaways from the tour to help you path forward:

1. COSTCO HAS THE SECRET INGREDIENT! The best denim washers shared their secret ingredients: Costco branded solutions create some of the best denim washing finishes.
   
   
2. EVERYTHING BUT DENIM! Lefty Productions has almost no minimums and can produce almost anything (aside from jeans,) a panacea for the designer looking for one stop partnership. Tell her we sent you! Or contact us for an intro.
   
   
3. COLLABORATE!  When designers from all areas come together to create, something new happens and vitality is added to their collection. Don’t be afraid of new ideas and stepping outside your comfort zone if there's a buyer waiting. These 10 designers went from individual designers to collaborators in the blink of scoping out velvet denim, braided denim, rock star tee’s, and fringe.
   
   
4. IF THE SHOE FITS! I have never seen shoes being made! The process was new to most of us. Check out the vid - above. Experiencing 'behind-the-scenes' transforms the idea to reality at LA LA Land.
   
   
5. VOLUME & GET SOCIAL! Know your end goals, price accordingly, sell in volumes, and get social -media savvy to engage with your customers on a wide platform.  Your time has value.  Leverage.
