My (secret) Cheap Party Décor Hack & 4 Decor Tips!

We, the MAKERS at Looking Good YAYA! have been busy designing PARTY artwork and décor. 

~A Birthday Boogie for a 2 year-old. 
~Mattchella Festival for a 40th Birthday. 
​~An Ice Cream Bridal Shower.

Here, we share a few of our ethos in making a seamless visual event, and REVEAL OUR SECRET DÉCOR HACK! ​

1- Go for the WOW!  Statement Pieces.

Height & Volume are key.  Take peoples gaze up when they walk in and say WOW.  High balloons. High banners. High flowers.  Vary sizes.  Height & Volume gives direction, dimension, creates a flow, and enhances your pictures.  A few WOWS at the beginning and the rest of the party is smooth. 
 
At a BIRTHDAY BOOGIE, we had one oversized disco mylar balloon, a large wall with a BOOGIE step & repeat, and a bouncy house to keep the young occupied while we can enjoy adulting.   

For a kids party, I gave out disco balls necklaces.  For a splash of ‘adult-sophistication,' place these disco balls into a vase and top with flowers.  

A favorite WOW-POP trick is using oversized 18" or 32" balloons.  Just a few does the trick. ​

2- ​Color & Theme create the mood. 

The intention of the event is critical when selecting color.  Limit your party to a select few colors, a rigid palette, or theme.   Be strict.  A tight storyline of color will showcase all the efforts and thought you put into the spectacular event.  Often, I see people trying to do to much, diluting key elements.  

​3- My Secret Hack to Cheap Décor.. Revealed! 

Are you Ready for It?  Is the Suspense Killing You? 

SPRAY PAINT.  YES!  A $4 can of spray paint.  Spray paint will freshen up all party supplies.  Baskets, cheerios or beads, shoe boxes or amazon boxes. Raid the 99cents store. 

Rustoleum 2x Satin precisely covers most surfaces including plastic.  Montana Gold is smooth, albeit a bit more pricey and limited to specific surfaces (I use this for mirrors/furniture).

4- Get Silly.  And here’s where I learned, You Can Eat Your Face.

Pick one or two things for people to play and enjoy, get silly.

·       Photo Booths. 
·       A Craft.  Adults love to draw and glue too!
·       I met with @edibleselfie at @BizBashLA, you can literally eat my face on a cookie! 
·       JOYMODE for gargantuan Connect4 and a silent DJ.
·       Music!  Baby DJ Annie Wonder rocked the Birthday Boogie, but her range for adults is pretty broad too. Go for her!    Tell Annie we sent you!
